Zipline Canopy Tour Ranger, Asheville, NC

Overview of Organization: The Adventure Center of Asheville provides high-flying fun for guests of all ages. Located just five minutes from downtown Asheville, NC, the Adventure Center features a zipline canopy tour, a bike park, an adventure park, and Kid Zip, America’s first zipline adventure designed for children under 10. Our full zipline canopy tour takes guests on a 2-3 hour tour across 11 ziplines, 3 sky bridges, and incredible views of downtown Asheville and the surrounding mountains. We also offer an Express tour, which includes 7 zips and one suspension bridge (approx 1-2 hours).

Job Description: Zipline Canopy Tour Rangers assist Adventure Center of Asheville guests taking our Zipline Canopy Tour. You'll work as part of a professional but fun-loving team of folks who enjoy working outdoors and helping diverse individuals meet new challenges and face their fears.

Zipline Canopy Rangers must:

  • Provide exemplary guest service to all guests visiting the Adventure Center of Asheville
  • Operate canopy tour in accordance with ACA and industry standards
  • Work with co-ranger to facilitate canopy tour in a safe and professional manner
  • Complete daily inspection of course facilities and equipment and submit reports on time
  • Fit harnesses and helmets correctly during gear-up and supervise the use of all personal safety equipment during tour
  • Conduct participant ground school and assess each guest’s ability to complete tour
  • Engage guests with interpretative information about local ecology and area history during tours
  • Respond promptly to any emergency or rescue situations that may arise
  • Help to maintain Adventure Center of Asheville facilities and equipment
  • Attend ongoing inservice trainings and staff meetings

Qualifications:

Experience in the outdoor industry preferred but not necessary. What is most important is that you enjoy working with people! 
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Capable of providing leadership and helpful guidance to guests
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or ability to obtain before first day of work
  • Must pass initial ranger training and maintain skills to satisfaction of supervisor
  • Risk management experience and understanding of risk reduction strategies
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, long hours, and irregular shifts

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work at heights of up to 80 feet and in all weather conditions

Treetops Adventure Park Ranger, Asheville, NC

Overview of Organization: The Adventure Center of Asheville provides high-flying fun for guests of all ages. Located just five minutes from downtown Asheville, NC, the Adventure Center features many activities for people ages 4-104. We offer a zipline canopy tour, a bike park, an adventure park, and Kid Zip, America’s first zipline adventure designed for children under 10. The Adventure Park is an aerial obstacle course with over 60 elements spread throughout five courses ranging from 12-60 feet high.

Job Description: Treetops Adventure Park Rangers assist guests visiting the Adventure Park and KidZip. You'll work as part of a professional but fun-loving team of folks who enjoy working outdoors and helping diverse individuals meet new challenges and face their fears.

Job Duties:

  • Provide exemplary guest service to all guests visiting the Adventure Center of Asheville.
  • Operate Treetops Adventure Park and Kid Zip in accordance with industry standards.       
  • Work with co-Rangers and staff to facilitate park activities in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
  • Complete daily inspection of park facilities and equipment and submit reports on time.   
  • Fit harnesses and helmets correctly during gear-up and supervise the use of all personal safety equipment during activities.   
  • Conduct participant ground school that emphasizes important park rules.   
  • Give clear instruction on how to complete any and all elements and respond promptly to any emergency situations that arise.       
  • Help to maintain Adventure Center of Asheville facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately make and confirm reservations with Guests in-person or over the phone
  • Provide exceptional friendly, courteous, and patient customer service
  • Satisfactorily answer Guests’ questions pertaining to rates, activities, promotions, etc.
  • Effectively work with all ACA staff to ensure a seamless Guest experience
  • Assist with completing daily opening and closing procedures

BIKE RENTAL / CUSTOMER SERVICE / TECHNICIAN #1

Kolo Bike Park is currently hiring for an outgoing individual with good communication skills to work as our rental fleet technician.

Other experience should include: good bicycle mechanical skills, customer service, trail maintenance, basic labor and be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must be able to work holidays and weekends. This is a full time seasonal job. Good perks!

Summer Bike Camp Counselors / Instructors

Kolo bike park offers a 11  week day camp for children ages 8-15 beginning in mid-June.  We are looking for a few motivated employees to be summer camp counselors / instructors.

Position description:

Counselors lead small groups of children throughout the day in a mix of biking and other activities including stretching, bike skills building, off-the-bike games, and pool time. Counselors are expected to stay engaged with the children throughout the duration of the day, and to engage with the parents at the beginning and end of the day. Time spent on bikes will be between 40% and 60% of the day, depending on the skill level of the group. The counselor training would start one week before camp starts.

Advanced Camp Counselors / Instructors :

Same description as above except will be leading kids ages 13 to 17 yrs. Must be a well rounded advanced avid mountain biker with advanced teaching skills on how to ride XC, jump, pump track, brake to go faster, corner, ride rock gardens, how to ride small steep downhills, how to pick different lines, etc. Also must be open minded to other disciplines of cycling that we will be covering during the summer.

Time spent on bikes will be between 60% and 80% of the day.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Should be comfortable working independently with groups of 5-8 students at a time.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and stay engaged with students.
  • Extensive mountain biking experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Good communication skills and punctuality are highly valued.
  • Responds promptly to any emergency situations that arise.
  • Able to take direction well.

Job Description: Adventure Camp Counselors will help provide a supportive and safety focused environment as they assist campers in experiencing adventures such as the Adventure Park, biking, rafting, team activities, group games, educational programs, swimming, Ziplines, and KidZip. You'll work as part of a professional but fun-loving team of folks who enjoy working with children outdoors and helping diverse individuals meet new challenges, develop friendships, build confidence, and possibly face personal fears or struggles.

Job Duties:
  • Provide exemplary guest service to all campers attending Adventure Camp at the Adventure Center of Asheville.
  • Instruct, lead, oversee, and help design youth friendly programs and activities for a range of ages, interests, skill levels, and comfort ranges. Responsibilities will often be independent of other adventure services available at ACA but will sometimes involve providing support roles while participating at Treetops Adventure Park, Wildwater Rafting, Kolo Bike Park, Asheville Ziplines, Kid Zip, etc. in accordance with industry standards.       
  • Work with co-counselors and ACA Team members to facilitate activities in a safety focused, timely, and professional manner.
  • Complete daily paperwork and inspection of facilities and equipment and submit required reports in a timely manner.   
  • Supervise the use of all personal and safety equipment during activities.   
  • Conduct thorough orientation before and during each activity that emphasizes important camp rules.   
  • Give clear instruction on how to participate in activities and respond promptly to any emergency situations that might arise.       
  • Help to maintain all Adventure Center of Asheville facilities and equipment.
