When booking a birthday party at the Adventure Center of Asheville, you could be overwhelmed with all of our safety rules and regulations.  So please read through all this information before you book.  Then we will be glad to help you plan the best birthday party ever!

Overall Rules & Regulations

Asheville Treetops Adventure Park Rules and Regulations

Every participant must be 4 years old and over and weigh less than 265 lbs. Monitor and Escort Rules apply. Also, on this page is our Treetops Adventure Park Ground School Video to get you ready to climb.

  • Closed Toe Shoes are required.

Kid Zip Rules and Regulations

Every participant must be 4 years old and over and weigh less than 225 lbs.  Monitor and Escort Rules apply.

  • Closed Toe Shoes are required.

Kolo Bike Park

Our trails are color-coded for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders.  So we suggest that you split your group into those levels when riding and have at least one riding adult with each group.  Those adults are free.  We do not monitor our trails when they are open.

  • Closed Toes Shoes and Helmets are required to be worn while riding

Trip Times

All of our aerial activities are scheduled with trip times every day the Adventure Center is open.  Your trip time is the time that you walk to your activity from our Welcome Center after you have checked in. We start each aerial activity with a ground school (where you learn more about the activity, the equipment, and the safety rules), get geared up, and practice your gear BEFORE you start zipping or climbing.  Then the remaining time is for zipping or climbing.  For the Kid Zip and Treetops Park, the total trip time is 2 hours.  During that time, everyone in your party will climb at least 2 trails on the Treetops Park (or a trail 2 times) or complete the entire KidZip park at least once.

For Kolo Bike Park, your trip time is flexible.  However, it must start and end during our regular hours.

Arrival Time

For you and your guests to be ready for your trip time, everyone must arrive at least 20 minutes before the trip time.  This will allow time to park, check in to the welcome center with your signed waivers, use the restroom and be ready to start at your trip time.

If you or your guests are late, we will do our best to accommodate. But late arrivals often forfeit their activity.  They will miss ground school which is required before any guest participates in any aerial activity.  And once an activity starts, our staff are very busy working with the guests who were on time. Unfortunately, our aerial activities are not “walk-in” activities, like a park or a trampoline park.  Each participant must complete gear up and ground school.  Therefore, late arrivals are often not able to join the group.

Ages/Escorts/Monitors

We have a very strict policy for adult escorts and monitors for children for their safety.

Treetops Park:  Participants are ages 4 and over.  Children are required to have adult escorts and monitors. Please see the chart.  An adult monitor is a watching adult over the age of 18.  An adult escort is a paying/climbing adult over the age is 18 who is under 265 lbs.

Kid Zip: Participants are ages 4-10.  Each child who is 4-6 years old, is required to have an adult escort.  That is a paying and zipping adult who is under 225 lbs. and under 6’2” for each child that age.  For kids age 7 and over, an adult monitor (watching adult) is required.  For ages 7 and older, adult escorts are not required but may accompany kids age 7 and over. Older siblings may also zip with younger siblings, but they are not allowed to be “escorts” unless they are 18 years old or older.

Kolo Bike Park: For kids under the age of 13, a 5:1 adult escort is required for trail riding.  Pump Tracks, Jump Line, Littleville, and Skills area require an adult monitor.

Number of Guests

  • The Purple Trail Adventure Park Party has a maximum of 10 participants.
  • The Treetops Park maximum depends on the availability of the trip time and can range from 10 participants to 30 participants.
  • KidZip has a maximum of 8-12 participants depending on the trip time booked.
  • Kolo Bike Park usually does not have a maximum number of guests as riders are spread out on over 100 acres.

Watching Guests

You may bring guests like grandparents or parents of your guests to the Birthday Party.  They may watch and participate in the picnic area.  Do not count them in your guest count.

Picnic/Party Area

We have several areas where you can set up a picnic for cake and snacks!  They are all first-come/first-served areas and can be used if open. They include the picnic table area beside the Treetops Park, across from KidZip, and the scattered gazebos throughout the property.  You are also welcome to bring picnic blankets and camp chairs and grab your own space on the lawn beside the parking area.

You may use this space before or after your activity.  If you use the picnic area before, please be sure to check into the office first with your guests to get armbands and allow plenty of time to be ready for your activity.  If you want to use the picnic space after your activity, please keep in mind that we do close after our aerial activities have finished.

Occasionally, groups rent an area of ACA.  And often during the winter, our tent is down.  But if you see a spot open, you are welcome to use it.  Just please be sure to share the larger areas with other guests and to clean up after yourselves.

You are welcome to bring in food and beverages, just not alcohol.  And if you need to drive to our back entrance near to tent to load or unload, please let us know.

Guarantees & Cancellations

For all aerial activities, your final number and final payment are due a week (business days) before your activity.

Cancellation Information

  • No refunds for reservations canceled less than 7 days before the activity date unless a cancellation guarantee is purchased.
  • Rescheduling is treated as a cancellation.
  • No refunds for inclement weather.

Optional Cancellation Guarantee

  • For a non-refundable 7.5% fee, a full refund will be given for any reservation canceled by 1 pm the day before the activity date.
  • Full credit in form of a voucher, except the fee, will be given for an activity canceled the same day, prior to activity time.

For Kolo Bike Park, payment is due on arrival for your actual numbers.

Weather

For aerial activities, we do plan to start your activity on time RAIN OR SHINE. Regardless of the forecast, we expect you to arrive on time ready to go on your adventure.  However, we do monitor the actual radar.  If there is lightning within 8 miles of the Adventure Center, we get everyone down to the ground.  Then we get everyone back up as soon as possible just as a pool or golf course does. We do operate in rain, wind, snow, sleet, cold, and sunshine! But please know that we are always monitoring the weather conditions.

We do close Kolo if the trails, pump tracks, or jump line are too wet.  This is for the safety of the riders and the condition of our park. We suggest a call to the office at 828.225.2921 to check conditions before arrival. And we suggest rain dates, just in case.

Gratuity

Gratuity is optional for our rangers and is not included in your invoice. If you would like to add a gratuity amount to your invoice, please let us know. Or you can drop that off at the office, after your event. It is optional but appreciated by the rangers for going above and beyond.

Waivers

Waivers must be signed BY A LEGAL GUARDIAN and are required for every participant. Once you make a reservation, you will be sent a waiver to share with your group.  The name on the waiver is the participant and one waiver per person, please. Please ask everyone to fill out their waivers BEFORE ARRIVAL to save time at check-in.

Current COVID-19 protocols – please check this page.

What to Wear

For Aerial Activities

  • closed-toe shoes are mandatory (tennis shoes are fine)
  • long shorts or pants
  • you may want to wear a collar shirt because of the harness on your shoulders
  • tie long hair back in a low ponytail (as you will be wearing a helmet) and no dangling jewelry
  • bring a raincoat in case of rain (we go rain or shine)
  • for cold weather: synthetic, wool or fleece layers work great with wool/fleece socks, gloves that your hands can move easily in, a warm coat, and warm hats that will fit under helmets

For Kolo

  • close toe shoes are mandatory
  • bike helmets

What Guests of our Asheville Birthday Parties Are Saying…

“We had a blast! I enjoyed it more than I thought as well…I enjoyed climbed on 3 of the courses 🙂 Thank you for the part you played in making this such a fun day for my kiddo’s 13th birthday. In fact, I think it was my favorite one yet!”

Holly W.

“It was great – so glad we booked with you all.  We had 9 girls aged 7-11 and two adults and every single one of them had a blast! We were also very appreciative of the COVID-19 policy you had in place which suggested that the unvaccinated mask on the course even though outdoors. My daughter had already missed having a celebration for her 8th birthday due to the pandemic and it was great to be able to go somewhere that we felt was a safe, fun and responsible option and be able to celebrate.  The tent was great too – we had some pizza delivered from Pizza Mind which was perfect for after.

Ashley S.

“Asheville Treetops Adventure Park is amazing! What a high quality venue! We just hosted our son’s 8 year birthday, and hoped to find something that would be engaging and allow for COVID protocols… and this was PERFECT. Their varying levels of rope courses allowed our group from 5 years to 10 year old kids to find paths that were perfect for their skill and ability. The ‘rangers’ on site were exceptional and worked very well with the kids to keep them safe and aware of what they needed to do on the course. This was a great day. Great birthday. My wife works in the medical industry and needed to ensure a high level of precautions in light of COVID, and we were highly appreciative to see masks, hand sanitizing, and the ability for distancing. Way to go Asheville Treetops Adventure Park!”

Fun for the whole family! I was with mine and a few friends last time I was here. Each course has a different... difficulty level ranging from baby mode to hardcore professional type stuff! They are all extremely fun and the harder they are, the scarier it is. It is also a good workout. I was sore after this! One of the most fun experiences I've had in a while. If you do it with a partner, I'd say it's also a good bonding experience. After all thst is said and done, they sell merchandise and frozen custard. Eating frozen custard after a long climb is really refreshing.read more

This place is pretty amazing. My 9 year old did the KidZip. It was his first experience with zip lining and he was a... bit hesitant at first. Our Ranger was Jordan and she was amazing with the children in his group. After a short class on how to operate the course he was off and flying. 2 full hours of fun. After a few runs he was so confident and smiling the whole time. Will definitely be back and experience the other fun options at the center.read more

It’s... always refreshing to be around people who work great together and truly enjoy where they work. I would highly recommend booking the Asheville Zipline Adventure. If at all possible, I would recommend these two take you around because they will make sure you have fun the entire time. We had a great time! We took a group of corporate customers as part of an educational retreat. The location was... perfect-just a few minutes from the downtown hotels. The trip was run very smoothly from start to finish. Our two guides, West and Trent were perfect hosts and took our folks from nervous first time zippers to cannonballing high adventure heroes in no time at all! My very favorite part of the whole trip was when our most nervous participant smiled from ear-to-ear coming into the last platform! She was so proud of herself for conquering her fear and having fun while doing it. Highly recommend!read more

I chaperoned a group of 25 high school freshmen on a recent trip and they all had a marvelous time. The students most... enjoyed the teambuilding we did in the morning part of our session and found the facilitators engaging and attentive. Students also felt empowered to challenged themselves on the ropes course in the afternoon; even students who had vehemently claimed they wouldn't do it still tried at least one level. The more experienced students also delighted in the variety of obstacles and challenges awaiting them. I would definitely take a group here again.read more

Took our (just turned) 8 year old today to the kid zip area and we had a great time! Reasonably priced and the staff... was very friendly. Small enough where our son wasn't too scared to get started but big enough to still challenge him to conquer some of his fears. Such an entertaining place!! Had a great time. The courses are challenging but doable and that’s what keeps it fun. The... only two downsides in my opinion were that 1. It only lasts 2 hours and starts from when you watch a video and do the whole harness thing, so you lose time to actually be up on the trees and 2. I’ve been to other adventure parks and they sell/rent gloves because the courses have elements where you need to hold onto a rope or cable. I asked for them but they don’t sell/rent or even suggest you to bring your own. My hands were really hurting afterwards. Anyways, I’d recommend it!!read more

A lot of fun for the whole family. The price for the adventure was cheap compared to other parks we've been to and the... instructors were great. Hated having to wear a mask though which took away from the fun. Every time my mask would slip off slightly I was scolded but I guess that's where were at right now. All in all it was well worth it. My 9 year old enjoyed Kolo bike park camp last week - and he is back this week with his 13 year old sister enjoying... Adventure Camp. They are having a blast a rating it a “13” on a scale of 1-10. And kids are honest! Great staff. Safe and social distance friendly. Get outdoors and live life!read more

Our family came to the Asheville area from Virginia for a long weekend in an effort to change up our scenery and give... our kids something to look forward to because we had been under our stay-at-home order since mid-March. We decided to do the ziplining tour at Asheville Adventure Center because it gave us a chance to do something as a family outside and it was an activity the kids were really excited about. The folks at Asheville Adventure Center were amazing. Very friendly, with a great customer service attitude. We had our safety training with Jeff, whom I think is the owner, and our ziplining guides were Brandon and Donovan. They were terrific. Very low stress, but also very focused on safety and procedure. We had a very nice time talking with them over the two hours and we can't say enough about how much they added to our enjoyment of the experience. During the ziplining, we all had to wear facemasks because it was not possible to always stay six feet apart during time on the tree platforms but it was not too much of a bother and it actually ended up keeping my face warm because it was cool and breezy up in the trees. We highly recommend this company and will come back to do another activity with them the next time we come to Asheville!read more

My first time on a zipline and I loved it! I was especially impressed by the safety standards at the Adventure Center.... They took time for a training session to ensure all participants could demonstrate basic skills. ANY time a participation was up high, he/she was securely tethered by at least one (usually more) line to a strong cable. But our guides weren’t all business. Their jokes, stories, and little dance/demonstrations added greatly to the super fun experience. So go, zip, laugh and know you are in very safe hands.read more

Great experience for groups, either family or company groups on a retreat. This was my 1st time. And some parts were... harder then I thought but I got through it. They have levels of course (easy-difficult) you can take kids too! My daughter is 13 and can go on the bigger zipline. A fun experience!! I would definitely recommend! If you have a dirt jump bike there's a small section that's worth going to the rest of this if you're coming here for x... cedar mountain bike and I woildl go somewhere else. There's a zip line thing here that's probably pretty cool but I didn't go on that. But that's a separate entity but the bike parks in the same place this review is for the bike park. I feel they're going to charge us all to come here they should at least maintain the trailer so they're nice and smooth. If it was free I wouldn't even complainread more

I’ve gone to this place once every few months for the past two years. It is the best place to go for progression... without the pedaling. It closer than any real fun trail system to ride. Has endless features to session and a staff that is always kind and welcoming. My wife and I got jumping tips from one of the kids at their camp the other month and now we are starting to clear table tops!!!! They just have every increment of progression and everything is tucked away and separated enough that you aren’t constantly being watched by everyone while you are attempting to send but also close enough that if you fall and yell there is a better chance some one would hear you. Just spend your money here please and help make it even better. They’ve been putting in serious work.read more

We made our reservations thru the 1800 number. This was our first time zipping. The staff easily accommodated all... levels of skill and comfort zones. Safety was clearly paramount. Our group was large - 3 kids and 3 adults (age 7 to 60) They have zipping to fit all. 2 of the group did the kid course, 4 on the Canopy tour. Be aware the canopy tour lasts much longer than the kid side, but you can stay on the kid side as long as you want. Richard and Grant did an amazing job! These guys are professional, respectful. Can't wait to try this again! We had a great time. Worth the cost.read more

As locals, we love having a full bike park just 10 minutes from the house--pump tracks, single trails, skill park and... friendly, fantastic staff. Our son goes to camp here all summer, and I ride with him several afternoons a week after work. Definitely consider the annual pass, as the more you know the park, the more you realize it has to offer. UPDATE: PLEASE CONSIDER EXTENDING CAMP NOW THAT SCHOOLS HAVE MOVED TO ONLINE LEARNING! Perhaps two sessions a day to handle the crowds (morning group, afternoon group) or afternoons or... WE WILL SIGN UP! Our children will need more than just outside time with homeschooling, but outside time that builds skills and involves learning.read more
