Help Zipping For Autism At “Restaurant Days”

Adventure Center of Asheville is making it easy for you  to support Zipping For Autism. You can help just by having a meal at one of four restaurants.

The Zipping For Autism event is June 3. Teams and sponsors can sign up to participate in a day of fun at the Adventure Center that raises money for the Lakey Gap Autism Programs and FIRST Resource Center.

You can also participate by letting someone else cook for you, during Zipping For Autism Restaurant Days, happening this month at four Asheville-area restaurants:

The restaurants are donating a portion of proceeds to Zipping For Autism. When you go, be sure to let your server know you’re supporting the cause.

Zipping For Autism was started by the Adventure Center’s Sheena and Jeff Greiner.

“We have a son with autism, and wanted to give back to the community, so we thought about having a special day where we donated money for each zipliner who came,” Sheena says. “Then we started thinking of what we could do that was bigger, and it’s grown into this amazing event.”

“The energy of the day itself is amazing,” Jeff tells us. “Some groups make their own t-shirts and show up in full force in support of a particular relative or co-worker’s child.”

The participating restaurants help that community spirit grow, and make it possible for families to take part who can’t be part of the event itself on the courses at the Adventure Center of Asheville.

“This event is a grass-roots effort by families, local businesses, and other supporters who realize it is up to the community to step up and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors,” says Jeff.
