Zipping for Autism Annual Fundraising Event

at The Adventure Center of Asheville

Adventure Center of Asheville event benefits local individuals within the autism spectrum and their families. What:   4th Annual Zipping for Autism Event Team up for the exhilarating experience of Ziplining in Asheville to support the Autism Society of North Carolina.  Zipping for Autism, the first event of its kind in the country, raised over $40,000 last year.  Organizers anticipate an even more successful year. Teams of 10 people, who have raised a minimum of $800, will zipline on the urban canopy tour at the Adventure Center of Asheville.  Teams raising $1,100 or more will also climb, zip, walk, jump, swing and rappel over 30 towering trees in the wooded Asheville Treetops Adventure Park! The goal is to raise more than $50,000 by June 8, 2015.  Every dollar raised will be  donated the Autism Society of North Carolina to be used in Western North Carolina to offer respite, increase advocacy, and assist families who cannot afford evaluative and diagnostic services.
Zipping for Autism will also host restaurant nights with proceeds from sales to benefit the event. Scheduled nights will be the Texas Roadhouse, Sunday, May 3 and the Wild Wing Café, Tuesday May 26. When: Teams should register by June 1 at www.zippingforautism.com. Join us at the Texas Roadhouse, Sunday, May 3 and the Wild Wing Café, Tuesday May 26, when sales will benefit the event or to earn money for your team. Teams will zipline on June 7 at scheduled times throughout the day. Why: Jeff and Sheena Greiner, owners of the Asheville Zipline Canopy Adventures at the Adventure Center of Asheville, wanted to give back to the organization that has served their son over the years.  All proceeds raised by individuals and teams will go to the Autism Society of North Carolina to offer respite, increase advocacy and diagnostic services, and to assist families in our region.  “The money we raise is important because there is not enough funding for services to meet the needs of children in our area.  There is an increase in prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in our state; 1 in 70 children born in NC has ASD,” said Sheena Greiner. “We applaud the Greiner family & the other parents of children with ASD, and the volunteers who have come together to create this unique fundraiser. We appreciate the teams of individuals and businesses who will join this exciting community event.” said Greta Bryd, Regional Services Director of ASNC Where:  The Adventure Center of Asheville, 1 Resort Drive, Asheville How: To form a team, register online at www.zippingforautism.com by June 1, 2015. Click the “Start a Team” button on the left. Register a team of up to 10 people, raise at least $800 in donations prior to June 7th and your team will be scheduled for a two-hour ziplining tour at our event. Teams that raise $1,100 or more will enjoy both the ziplining and a two-hour adventure at Asheville Treetops Adventure Park. The website allows teams to generate donations, track progress and provides sponsorship opportunity detail.  Also, restaurant spirit nights have been added to the website so teams can earn money for their team by eating at each restaurant during the specific nights. Teams can be comprised of adults and youth, but all Zippers must be age 10 and over and w eigh between 70-250 lbs. There is not alot to do on the practice trip but once you learn it the treetop adventure looks like alot of fun. Make sure to use a promo code because it's bit pricey.

Took the family here and my two boys (10 and 7) loved it. Very helpful and friendly staff. Participated in the smallest zipline course but the kids had a blast.

The entire staff was very pleasant and the instructors were very patient with our three kiddos. This was their first time zip lining and they had a blast! Will recommend to all of our friends when coming to visit!
