We are surrounded by the breath taking mountains of Western North Carolina on all sides, and there’s greenery all around with water bodies scattered everywhere.

So what are the popular ways to get out and enjoy all of this natural beauty?…

Adventure Activities in Asheville

Mountain biking is a very popular means of adventure, that many engage in. Those who are fond of biking find it irresistible to bike in the backdrop of such a picturesque setting. The best mountain biking trails are found in the south western part of Asheville. Rock climbing  and mountain climbing/hiking is another adventure sport that one can indulge in Asheville. From the downtown mountain climbing facility on Wall Street, and 1-on-1 Rock climbing classes offered at Chimney Rock Park, to a section hike on the Appalachian Trail or a leisurely stroll up to Craggy Gardens, there is no shortage of climbing opportunities in such a mountainous region. People don’t always think of the Carolina’s when they think of winter sports, but Asheville has some amazing opportunities for skiing and snowboarding in less than an hour’s drive. You can head north on 19/23 from Asheville to ride at Wolf Ridge near the Tennessee boarder. Or you can hop on Rt 40 to Maggie Valley and ski the slopes at Cataloochee. Paddle sports are another tremendous draw to the WNC region. Our mountainous terrain results in some challenging rivers that can challenge any level of participant. Beginners can hit the rapids quickly with one of our local white water rafting companies or take it easy with a canoe trip near the Biltmore House. Many experienced paddlers love to take their kayaks out on the rapids of the French Broad River.

What’s the best way to have a truly “Asheville” Adventure?
